WELCOME TO THE POETIC GENIUS SOCIETY!

The Poetic Genius Society is composed of intellectually gifted individuals with a passion for poetry. They are the creative artists of our time, whose literary output interprets the heritage of the past and the urgent now.

Founded by Dr. Greg Grove in 1998, our fellowship of poets has been a thriving haven for aspiring artists in the High IQ community. Although our ranks are extremely diverse, we share a common bond in our love for all things poetic.

PGS' online journal, Apotheosis, is a growing collection of works by poets from all over the world. It is here for your enjoyment.

In addition, we would love for you to become a member of our congenial society. What's in it for you?

  • The joy of sharing your poetry with other minds who will appreciate your work
  • The prestige of joining an IQ society whose score is at the 99.5 percentile
  • Fellowship with peers you can relate to, both intellectually and artistically
  • Publication of your work in Apotheosis
  • Access to Facebook (tm) with a purpose ;)

We hope you enjoy your visit to our site as you peruse its contents and learn more about Poetic Genius Society and the individuals who comprise our membership. Please feel free to write to our membership officer for more information, or simply fill out our online application to begin the membership process.

WELCOME LETTER FROM DR. GREG A. GROVE

Welcome to Poetic Genius Society. This society came into existence after the demise of Collegium, which folded due to political infighting.

Somewhat frustrated, and deeply depressed about the way Collegium ended, I was determined to start a new club that was more topic specific. Since I enjoy poetry and no poetry club in high IQ circles existed at the time, I switched gears and constructed a new platform for creative poets. The Poetic Genius Society was birthed after much thought and lengthy waiting for just the right ideas to gel. The original logo-- the raven as mascot, the three color scheme and its symbolism, the entrance criteria--all of that flowed and came together somewhat mystically.

During the transition from Collegium to PGS, several members simply moved into the new club with pride. Over the months, as the society's web page was featured on Darryl's board, a rash of inquiries assured me that PGS would be small but mighty. The journal, APOTHEOSIS, appeared first as a bi-monthly publication that was mailed to the members; later PGS went completely online with its own electronic journal, plus a recap of the best from the original journals, known presently as "the archives."

Today PGS moves ahead with a new look and a new motivation. Today's poet still has the overwhelming task of sharing deep insight with a readership that may or may not be fully attuned to figurative and abstract language; the language of concepts, ideas, dreams. Yet it is the poet's task to shake the nations with his works; to reach even a small element of society with his ideas, if insight and change are to work their magic in the days ahead.
